They are carrying 4 turbojet, as opposed to turbofan, engines so not
only does it use noisy engines but it uses 4 of them concurrently. My
guess is that it would sound like a fighter plane taking off.

Many, if not most of the original a/c were converted to use turbofan
engines, and all of the Jetstar II a/c were equipped with turbofans.
