Van Nutterr as Felix Leiter in the cockpit.

Cec Linder was a much better Felix Leiter.

Oddly enough Van Nutter was American but Cec Linder wasn't.
Cec was a Polish-born Canadian citizen who made a good living playing
Americans in British films -- with he wasn't doing bits and pieces on
TV.

He had the dry wit that the Bond novels
showed him exhibiting.

Cec had probably read the novels. I never got the impression that any of
the other 7 actors who played Felix Leiter had read anything more than their
own sections of the filmscript.
