I didn't know that. As you are such an expert on ejector seats, which
Western type would you say the K-36D-3.5A was a copy of?

Tons of stuff there use the advanced search options, but prepare to be
distracted
The main upshot of the preport was that the Russian seat did provide
some performance improvements, but that those improvements would only
be useful in about 2% of all ejections. There were significant costs
in weight and volume (The seat's bigger), and it was determined to be
pretty much a wash in terms of overall safety.
Thanks for that. I couldn't find the info on the site but am happy to
take your word for it.
