Unconfirmed news reports say last evening USAF a C-141 "Hercules" (sic)
made a safe landing at Christchurch (NZ) after earlier radioing in a
mechanical failure.

Hi,

I flew out of CHC today and wondered what the 2 x C141s and 2 x C130s were
doing there. Presumed they may have been part of some Antarctic work.
Anyone know what they are doing in the area?

It's the end of summer there, meaning all the summer people are flying
out, also supplies for the winter will be flown in before everything
freezes up.
