I have this message below and also spoke directly with Achim Winter and also
to Barbara Doerflein form TOST regarding old and new approval documents.
As I have tried to indicate previously and explain some differences between
old and new, USA and EU certificates.
TSO (Technical Standard Order) is a USA approval. not EU.... But the USA and
EU (or FWIW EASA now) have bilateral agreements meaning we accept and they
accept in return each others approvals. The EASA Form one is the approval
document that is essentially the EU version of the US 8130 approval
document.....approved for service or approved for return to service if a
repaired or overhauled part, that "Meets" the approval as indicated on the
form (typically noted on item 12 of the form.
Previous approvals from Germany would have been on the form FAA form one
(now EASA Form one)
confused yet? anyway...simply put the US8130 or EASA Form One are the
equivalent "approval" documents stating that the associated part is an
"approved" part.

would be installed in gliders all over the world since more than 60 years,

According to the export procedures of the FAA/LBA implementation procedures
will be accepted the Form 1 as exportcertificate.
The LBA confirmed an agreement with the FAA approved development documents.
Such authorization will be issued
by the "FAA Letter of TSO Design Approval".

Yesterday we contacted the EASA for information about the procedure to
attain the documents.
