The Select Senate Committee on POW/MIA Affairs was created in 1991.
Kerry became Chairman.

The purpose of the Committee was to investigate reports of American soldiers alive in Vietnam.
These men were classed as either Prisoners of War [POW] or Missing in Action [MIA].

Kerry badgered the Committee into voting that there were no POW's or MIA's in Vietnam.


Is that becasue he knew that they'd all been sent to the Soviet Union?
(Unless some were sent to China.)

I recall that some American reporters flying accross the Atlantic with
Yeltsin on his way to visit the US asked him if he knew anything
about American POWs from Vietnam. He replied that his understanding
was that a large number (over a thousand IIRC) had been transferred
to the Soviet Union, but he did not know what had become of them.
He also expressed surprise that this was news to the American jour-
nalists. Evidently he not think the matter was unknown to the US
government. I dunno if he was sober at the time and never heard
anything more about it.
