Minden Soaring Club will spread its wings once again when it holds a
barbecue/business meeting at 5 PM March 4 in the SoaringNV hangar at
the Minden-Tahoe Airport. The purpose of this meeting is to attract
soaring pilots and others who are interested in rejuvenating the club
and who will officiate in the club. The SoaringNV hangar is at 1140B
Airport Rd., Minden, NV.

The decision to rebuild Minden Soaring Club was made at an
organizational meeting of interested parties in Minden January 17
which brought together soaring pilots, past MSC officers, and others
interested in seeing soaring pilots represented by an organization
that will serve their interests and support educational/safety
programs at the Minden Airport. All previous MSC Board Members have
supported the reorganization effort.

Minden Soaring Club, LLC, has existed as a 501 C(3) for the past
decade but has been quiet in the recent past. The initiative
spurred by this meeting looks to reactivate the club and make it tool
for the soaring community to increase soaring opportunities in this
world-class soaring site. This effort to rebuild Minden Soaring Club
also fits nicely with efforts by airport management, the Douglas
County Commissioners, and private individuals to make Minden a center
for sport aviation education and activities. Along this line,
architectural plans have been commissioned for a museum/educational
center on airport property. The airport will also be home this June
to a Civil Air Patrol summer encampment that will bring Cadets to
Minden for a week-long glider program.
