Hello All,
Brand new US sectional charts are now available on my website at
http://www.soaringdata.info. The provided formats include CMR for use
in SeeYou; and GeoTiff (Geo-referenced TIFF) for use in mapping
applications such as Global Mappe (for those few of you who are in to
that kind of thing).
I've also written a little article on how to display the GeoTiff
sectionals in GoogleEarth. It can be found at
http://www.soaringdata.info/aviation/tifInGe.html.
This certainly isn't the only way of getting sectionals into
GoogleEarth -- you may want to visit
http://www.chartgeek.com for
another great alternative. Mine are unique in that I trim off the
edge material so that adjacent charts can be more or less seamlessly
tiled together in a big mosaic. This can be important if you fly in a
boundary area between two charts. Of course that also means the edge
material isn't available to be viewed in my versions.
I only plan on updating these once a year or so -- mainly because it
costs me a little over 30 bucks each time I do it. If you are
interested in seeing them more often, consider making a small
donation; a link is provided for that purpose on the site.
Of course the charts themselves are free, as is everything on my site!
Happy Downloading!
