Hi all

The
inboard engine on the Pilot's wing has feathered props. Is that engine
No. 2? Also, Dan McHale's photos and aerial photos show a wheels-down
landing and roll out. Too bad it didn't make the airfield ... they
might've saved it.

Agreed.
That looked like the best possible wheels-down landing he could have
made. It is obvious he didn't want to belly in. It is just sad that he
didn't make the runway where the emergency fire response might have had
a better chance at suppressing the fire.
Does anybody know the distance from the corn field to the runway?
....and without second guessing, whether it would have been worth the
risk to those on board to attempt to make the runway?

I'm posting this blind, so someone else may have posted it.
The Liberty Bell crashed and burned outside Chicago this morning. I't a
total loss.

Nobody
hurt.
It looks like the ragged edge of a "good landing."
