I recall many years ago, in bed, window open, waking
up, hearing a funny noise outside ... got up, looked out
the window & saw a very large balloon over a nearby
tree ... thought I was seeing things!

Turned out to be the 1st Balloon Fest in our area ... went
to each one after that ... chased a balloon 1 year w/ my
kids in the car ... was the 1st to arrive when the balloon
landed so my kids got a tethered ride up

Gatineau has a "Festival des Mongolfières." The snorting of the burners
as they drifted overhead used to drive my dog into conniptions when we
were out for her morning constitutional.
