Default UK2 VX777 Avro Vulcan 1962 Farnborough.jpg

This reminds me of a display at Farnborough in the early sixties when four Vulcans did a simulated scramble. The idea was that with a four minute warning of a soviet missile launch, the retaliatory force should be well out of harms way. The stream takeoff was a sight and sound to behold. The four aircraft smoked their way upwards at a steep angle and disappeared into the distance. A short time later they flew back at 40,000 feet over the airfield. Very impressive!

Cheers,
