Canadian dependence on Antonov -124's
Video was shown on CBC-TV this week of a Ukrainian
flagged(and built) AC departing Fredericton, N.B.,
civic airport loaded with equipment bound for Haiti.
Troops from CFB Gagetown left earlier in a Herkybird.
Canada has been dependant for several years on Ukraine
owned ANTONOV 124's for heavy lift of equipment - I
believe to Turkey, the Balkans and Afghanistan.
Does anyone know how many flights to date the Canadians
have chartered? I assume Bohunk-Air (just teasing,guys)
gets the business because they are the cheapest? Does
anyone know what the average charter flight costs?
Does the deal include that Ukraine have aircraft on
standby and prepositioned ? Is there a requirement
that Ukraine fit their AC with NATO standard counter-
measures? Your answer would be appreciated. XeniaD
