I never do. *That's partly because my house is under the pattern for my
local airport so circling there would be antisocial behavior, but mostly

I usually depart either to the south, or
west, and in the course of intercepting a
radial it's convenient enough for me to tip
a wing left (heading west), or tip right (heading
south) momentarily at 2800 ft. just to do a
quick glimpse. The only "turns about a point"
I'd execute over the house is for showing my
passenger where I live while testing out a
plane. Otherwise, like you, I go where I'm going.
