Air Force ribbon will now show that wearer served in combat Stars and
Stripes

ARLINGTON, Va. — The Air Force is adding a new touch to its Air Force
Expeditionary Service Ribbon that will show that the wearer
participated in combat.

From now on, airmen meeting the established criteria for award of the
basic ribbon — 45 consecutive days or 90 nonconsecutive days in a
designated combat zone — will also qualify for a gold border around
the ribbon.

Airmen who are wounded or die while serving in a combat zone, those
who participate in mobility operations into the designated area, and
those wh...
