Goof Off and Goo Gone are most definitely not the same or similar products. Goo Gone is a citrus based product while Goof Off is a petrochemical based product (See MSDS at

I use "Goof off" - a citrus-based cleaner - takes the residue right off, easy on the finish. Called "Goo gone" in Canada...
