Unfortunately Apple only allow certified bluetooth 4 devices to connect to

iPads and iPhones, they also don't support SPP, so unless the manufacturer

specifies IOS support then it will not connect (unless you jailbreak your
device and install a full bluetooth stack!)
I know having been down this road already with BT GPS devices.
