These two engines are very different and engine mounts are not the same.
Most people who have a 65 Lyc want rid of it. If it's in a Cub or
Taylorcraft, most people convert to Continental, usually an A-65 or C-85.
The 65 Lycoming is generally thought to be a dog engine, with a weird
cast-iron block (including the cylinders) and aluminum heads. It turns up
more RPM to get its power and will NEVER make 65 HP. Parts are hard to
find, whereas with the 65 Continental you can find most parts from several
sources. Cranks are getting rare but the last I heard Millenium was still
manufacturing new cylinders.
I helped a friend find an A-65 for his homebuilt. He took the 65 Lyc home
where it collects dust. It had been leaking compression around the head
gaskets. It had died.
Otherwise I like Lycs. Just not this one.
