First fatal zeppelin crash. The LZ-14 flew into a storm and crashed into the
North Sea, breaking in two. The control car sank, drowning 14 of its
occupants.

From New York Times 9 Sept. 1913:

GERMAN AIRSHIP LOST WITH 15 MEN; Commander, Head of Marine Airship Division,
and Baron von Maltzahn Drowned.

BERLIN, Sept. 9. -- The German Marine airship L.I. was destroyed this
evening in a hurricane eighteen miles north of Helgoland in the North Sea.
