Tried three times to reply to your comment about the P-38 pilot and my
posts just vanished..... so, here is a new thread with your comment
and my reply below.

What's disappointing is that it took all this time for someone to finally be
able to retrieve the pilot remains after all these decades...makes one wonder
how many other similar situations like this are out there...and whether DOD
still has them in their computer systems as a reminder.

At age 17 (his picture in Marine uniform makes him look no older than 15), my
uncle, lying about his age, joined the Marines after Pearl Harbor...wounded
within a week after landing on Guadalcanal! VA still looked after him when his
wounds occasionally gave him problems...even after he turned 80.

Not being religious or superstitious myself, if I were, I would think
of this as still flying patrol for my first 70 years of eternity, not
a bad way to start the final chapter.



They've all showed on Newsguy...was wondering why you posted the same reply
three times...makes sense now. Newsguy isn't that great but it's cheap...I
normally post 20-25 images a day in this group...some days NONE of them show on
Newsguy!!

Tomorrow mornings post has 26 Vickers VC10 images...here's hoping all show up.
