High School *dropout* is the way I hear it (at least in the Navy). Maybe
USAF has *slightly* higher standards? :-)

Try to get into any of the Armed Services (at least here in East TN)
without a HS diploma or GED and watch what happens. (I'll give you
hint: it won't).

Agreed. It's been like that since I last spoke to my recruiter in 1978.


I work with recruiters from all the services on a regular, if not real
frequent, basis. The AF and CG have by far the toughest standards.
The Navy and MC are in the middle right now (but not too long ago the
both were approaching AF/CG standards). The Army (including Reserve
and NG) are fairly "easy" but still have some "floors."

I was a Driver but also spent some time as Aircraft Division Officer
(and higher up in maintenance depts. in Naval Reserve units). I have
a vast respect for the "wrench turners." They often get the ****ty
end of a short stick. I did what I could to make the stick a bit
longer and cleaner, but was not always successful. :-(
