Default Garmin 430 Memory Battery

It was a little over $250+ labor to have the battery replaced in one
of my KLN94s when it got low. I needed to find an instrument shop
with appropriate bench privileges to do it though (the avionics shop I
use is a FRS, so it has to be in the opspec for them to be able to do
it I guess). Not sure about how Garmin works it though.

$1500+. Send it back to Garmin for the WAAS upgrade.

Seriously, I think you just take it to a Garmin dealer. Surely it is a
field-replaceable item. But it wasn't in my Northstar M3, had to send it to
Canada for replacement of the battery.

My GNS 430's message says my Memory Battery is low. What is the procedure
to change this and what is the cost?

Thanks
