Manfred,

Thank you for the Un information. I went out to the airport this morning
and entered the "Un - Units" settings; however, program 9 only contains
options for "AH - Arrival height" and "EL - field elevation."

The items contained in program 8 a
FA - air-speed switching
bPOL - Polar penalty
W - Wind-Factor
POL - Glider Polar
tAb - Audio cut off
Un - Units

Does the lack of a "CS - compensation" setting indicate the VP-3 is not
electronically compensated or merely that I don't have control over the
compensation value?

The older manual discusses setting the CS value in flight. Could it be that
CS only appears in program 8 or 9 when the VP-3 thinks the glider is
airborne?

I have both German and English manuals for the VP-3 Competition; both

agree
on the following:
What you read as Vn in Program 8 is really Un and stands for Unit. There

you
can select:
Left digit: 0 = m/s for Vario and m for Altitude, 1 = m/s and ft
respectively, 2 = kts and m, and 3 = kts and ft;
Right digit: 0 = km, 1 = stm, and 2 = nm.
Vario compensation ("CS") can be selected in Program 9, where it appears
after "ACoF" (audio muting) and before "EC" (electronic compensation
on/off).
I hope this helps.

I have a VP-3, firmware version 45.1P, installed in my HP-14. My library
contains two different VP-3 manuals. One manual is obviously for a

later
model then mine; however, the earlier manual may also be more modern

than
my
VP-3.

Both manuals have a series performance item which are entered in

"Program
8". I have been able to enter everything except the compensation
percentage. In the step where "CS" is expected to appear in the top
window
I get what I think is "Vn".

The manual states that acceptable values for "CS" are from 80.0% to
105.6%.
The only value that the "Vn" setting will accept are "00, 01, 02, 10,

11,
12, 20, 21, 22, 30, 31, and 32."

Do these numbers have anything to do with the vario compensation? If

not
what do the represent?

Assistance will be appreciated.
