You might want to also consider an A+P school.

My neighbor donated his homebuilt to one 15 years ago, and it is still being
taken apart and reassembled by students today.

He loves that it is getting put to such good use. Perhaps your grandfather
would like it as well.

The plane is in fair but very complete condition. Fabric covering is
in good shape. VW engine is complete with a nearly new vertex mag
with only a few hours on it, however I haven't run it in a few years,
so it is a bit rusty. All the parts (with the exception of the
airspeed indicator) are there from the last time i flew it.

I would really like to see a fellow homebuilder or a musuem have it,
as this is what my grandfather would have wanted. If you are unable
to accept it, it would be greatly appreciated if you could recommend
another worthy person or group that might be interested.

The plane is one of the first Evan's Volksplane VP-1's to fly.
(currently registered as N1XS, originally registered as N3127) The
aircraft was built by my Grandfather, Victor Zinn back in 1970. He
was a lifetime EAA member and former president of Chapter 67. The
plane made many trips to Oshkosh from his home in Indiana back in the
70's and 80's. The plane was relatively well known for its large
portrait of Mickey Mouse painted on the tail. The log books have some
very interesting signatures in it, as my grandfather was interested in
having as many people as possible fly "Mickey". Ken Rand, Ray Stits,
Jim Bede, Bud Evans and a few other well known EAA'ers have flown it
and signed the logs. My grandfather passed on in 1989. I acquired
the aircraft in 1994, did a recover on it, flew it a bit, however
since in live in southern California it is difficult to fly with Class
B airspace here without an electrical system, Mode C and all the other
complications that go along with LAX. I have a new baby on the way,
and just dont have time for the volkplane. I would rather see it put
to good use than have it sit idle on the side of the house.
