If they use Minden as their start point that means they'll have to go
somewhere off the south end of the range for free 3 turnpoint
distance. *Unless they don't start until they turned back south but
then that distance from minden to ~susanville is sort of wasted. *I
hear the grand canyon is nice this time of year though...

They probably go for OLC distance which is 5TP. The 2200km was OLC
distance, not free 3TP distance.
