The annual Marfa Thermal and Wave Camp is underway with early arrivals
Dave Raspet, Rolf Seibert, Randy Teal, Jim Hardy using blue thermals
to contact a bit of wave. Mentor and soparing legend Dick Johnson
will arrive today, and we expect 20+ sailplanes by tomorrow.

Steve Leonard, collector of classic glass sailplanes, is bringing his
rare BS-1 (last year it was the Glasflugel 604).

We're enjoying 100 mile visiblity and our "wave window" is open to
30,000'. Marfa Airport in west Texas is at 5,000' msl field
elevation, near the Davis Mountains between Carlsbad Caverns and Big
Bend National Parks.

Joe Grimes of Oklahoma earned his Private Glider rating with me
yesterday and is ready to buy a glider!

So y'all visit us sometime for year-round thermals, wave, great
scenery and to finish that glider rating!

Fantastic Burt,
Wish I could make it. Greetings from Matt and I and the rest of the
Iowa Gang. Cross Country season is nearly upon us so standby for
phone calls from me bored in a field somewhere waiting for a crew.
