An off-the-street controller will typically spend about 4 years in
training for the position in question.

FAA management overruling controller concerns of unsafe parallel

Funny how NATCA never issued a press release on it, despite the
procedures being in place for years and NATCA's penchant for issuing
press releases on every other play on irrational fears they can think of.

Insufficient staffing during peak traffic periods


According to NATCA who has been complaining about staffing for the past
26 years running.

Boy/Wolf.

Ridiculous dress codes


Controllers making 6 figures can't wear shorts, flip flops, and T-shirts
to work anymore. Kinda makes you get all teary eyed, doesn't it?

Salary cuts


No controller ever received a salary cut.

No union contract


Because NATCA refused to negotiate in good faith they didn't get a
contract per rules put in place over 10 years ago which NATCA lobbied
for and endorsed. They didn't complain about it much 10 years ago when
they were getting massive pay increases.

Poor OJT training at many level 5 towers


Because many NATCA members refuse to give OJT (which is part of their
job that they get paid well for) since they are no longer getting EXTRA
pay for doing so. Furthermore, all the extra functions NATCA members
agreed to do in order to get massive pay increases in their last
contract never materialized. In other words, when NATCA members are
paid more to supposedly do more, but don't do more, that's OK, but when
management expects them to actually do the job they are paid to do,
that's not OK. Then when they don't do the job they are paid to do, they
blame their own failures on "management".

Supervisors unable to work traffic or stay current


False.

Diversity promotions USING NON-WHITE MALE people who are unqualified


Didn't you just claim ALL promotees are unqualified? Your true bigoted
colors are shining through.

And many more too numerous to mention.


Translation: I lost my list of NATCA talking points, but none of them
were any better than the shorts & flip-flop one anyway.

Notice how the disgruntled NATCA member hopes and prays for an accident
where people get killed so he can score his pathetic points and
hopefully go back to wearing shorts & flip-flops, and getting ridiculous
raises for doing nothing extra, and spending 3 hours on position during
an 8 hour shift.

Don't get me wrong, most NATCA members and non-NATCA member controllers
are very good and professional employees that do a very good job and
complain very little because they know they have it good. Then you have
those who are like this guy. Chances are he's nothing more than a
perennial complainer who can't hack it to begin with. He has a bone to
pick with FAA management because they had the audacity to expect him to
actually do something to earn his salary. With any luck, his Type A
personality will cause him to lose his medical and his job (if this
hasn't happened already), or perhaps his boss will finally get enough of
his crap and fire him for performance issues. In the mean time he will
continue to blame all his problems on minorities and FAA management when
even the casual observer can tell he's the root of his own problems.

You can always tell his type when you get them on frequency. He's the
type that will refuse your requests even though he's not that busy, give
you a ****ty attitude, and send you around the long way just because he
wants to use a job action to make one of his pointless points. So you
put up with his crap knowing you'll be handed off in a few minutes to a
more professional controller, but don't forget his fellow employees and
other pilots have to put up with his crap for a lot longer.

If you want to do your fellow pilots, the FAA, and Mr. Fubar's fellow
employees a favor, the next time he screws you over on frequency ask for
his initials (he has to give them to you), then ask for the number of
the facility. Be sure to note the approximate time and location. When
you call the facility, ask for the QA manager's number, or if it's a
smaller facility ask for the facility manager. Tell them what
happened. Mr. Fubar WILL get called on the carpet, and his boss will
have the tapes and the radar data in front of them. If it happens
enough, he'll get his certification pulled, and with any luck, he'll be
out the door. It's just a simple way you as a pilot can improve the
level of service you receive from the FAA. Believe it or not, the FAA
does treat pilot feedback very seriously.
