Default SSA Webinar - Aug 11, 2020 Top 5 Tips for Faster & Farther

The SSA Webinar Series continues for 2020. Second Tuesdays of the month, and additional dates as announced.

Aug 11 at 7pm CDT (adjust for your local time zones) will be the live presentation titled:

Top 5 Tips to Help You Soar Faster and Farther

So you want to fly faster? The goal of this webinar is to share 5 simple tips aimed at helping pilots fly faster and farther, to get the most out of each soaring day. All 5 tips are aimed at cross-country soaring in general. They are glider- and goal-agnostic – it doesn’t matter if you fly a 1-26 or a JS-1, and they’re equally relevant for badges, records, OLC, racing, and just keeping up with (or beating) your buddies. They relate to pre-flight preparation, flying techniques, and post-flight analysis, and draw on hard-won insights gleaned from training and flying with some of the best coaches and soaring pilots in the world.

Presenter Michael Marshall is an avid sailplane racing pilot and CFI-G based in Southern California. His accomplishments include top-four finishes at two US national soaring championships. He was the 2017 Junior National Champion and Mozer Trophy winner for finishing third at the 2017 Club Class Nationals. Most recently, he represented the US in Standard Class at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Szeged, Hungary. Outside of soaring, Michael is a NASA research fellow and aerospace engineering PhD candidate at the California Institute of Technology.
