I installed my jacks behind the seats and they hang out of the way. The
wires all stay in the baggage compartment. However I have a couple of
complaints. Once while flying alone I wanted to trade headsets and found I
could not reach the plugs. My new Lightspeeds have the controls near the
plugs. It is a little difficult to reach and adjust the volume. Lastly if
you just toss your baggage, jackets and other things in, you may find you
have trapped the wires and pulling them free may require getting out of the
airplane.

That's my 2 cents

It gets the headset wires out of the way of the pilot, as opposed to being
draped in front of or across the pilot's lap.

I noticed that on most single or two-seater planes the headset connectors
are behind the seats. What's the benefit of that location versus having
the connectors on or near the instrument panel in front of the pilot?
