Friend, just what makes you think they are *starting* an aerospace

industry?
These guys have been building jet fighters for decades.

How many of their own designs have they built? Not just building and
modifying other peoples designs but actually planning, building and flying
their own? And how long have they been doing that for?
By comparison, I reckon China is a newcomer. As for their delays/timing,
they're moving at roughly the same pace as the rest of us.

They have the advantage of not having to start from scratch. All the
basic research has been done. Give Burt Rutan a few billion and see
what he could come up with and he's NEVER built a fighter.
