Eighteen months ago I bought a Mac, with about half my motivation

about 80% like your posting, even on Pinnacle Studio which had been
selected as Editor's Choice by numerous places. One place even
retracted their Editor's Choice designation (and didn't reassign it)
when most of their readers complained. Apple's iMovie and iDVD aren't
perfect, but much better than the horror stories I hear in Windows
land.

That's what I use too, though it doesn't help the original poster who is
probably stuck with his Windows box.

One nice thing about the free iMovie and iDVD [1] though is that either
or both can be independently replaced by their professional but not
*too* expensive siblings, Final Cut and DVD Studio, depending on which
one you hit the wall with.

A few weeks ago I watched a friend singing at a concert. I left to go
home at 10 pm, and had the footage edited and a DVD burned by midnight
and on her doorstep before she got home.
