The ChicagoLand Glider Council is sponsoring a day long spring soaring
and safety seminar open to all soaring pilots. Safety,
racing, competition, gear, gliders and gab will be on the agenda.

The location of the seminar is Elgin, Illinois (northwest of Chicago)
at the Business Conference Center of Elgin Community College's
impressive and modern Seigle Auditorium

George Moffat
------------
Two time world champion and author of "Winning II". George will be
speaking on competition. George will host a book signing of "Winning
II" (copies will be available for purchase).

Burt Compton
------------
Owner/Operator Marfa (Texas) Gliders and Member, Board of Directors for

Soaring Safety Foundation. Burt will be the safety speaker.

Thomas Knauff
-------------
Owner/Operator Ridge Soaring Gliderport (Pennsylvania) and soaring
record holder. Tom will host a fascinating discussion of flying the
ridge.

Curt Lewis
-----------
CFIG, Past SSA Convention Speaker, Past CLGC President. Curt's topic
will be how to purchase that first glider.

Vendors are being invited to attend. To date Cumumlus Soaring (Paul
Remde) and Dupage County Airport Pilots Shop have confirmed attendance.

The cost of the seminar is being partially underwritten by the CLGC to
keep costs as low as possible and allow as many pilot as possible to
attend. The cost will be $35 for ChicagoLand Glider Council members
and $45 for non-members. Cost includes breakfast buffet, break
refreshments and a luncheon. Non-member cost will include a free one
year membership in the ChicagoLand Glider Council which entitles you to

attend Council functions and receive our newsletter. Registration

An optional social "Speakers Appreciation" dinner is being planned
and is available for $30 additional per person. George Moffat and Burt

Compton have agreed to a reprise of their 2005 SSA Convention speech on

the "Sun Ship Game", the 1970 world championships in Marfa TX, won by
George Moffat.

The ChicagoLand Glider Council was formed in 1937 and is a non-profit
organization of over 200 members. The CLGC has a long history of
dedication to the advancement and safety of soaring flight. The
Council hosts off-season (October through April) meetings with
scheduled speakers and refreshments at a local venue. The Council also

provides youth scholarships and helps to underwrite local soaring
events.
