Dunno if thats quite the right term. Dissidents, certainly.
However, I don't know a lot about that time. I moved schools a lot and
ended up with sitting through several repetitions of English Mediaeval
History and was taught very little about any other time or place. Most of
what I think I know of history I learnt much later, and I know a lot more
about the region running east from Hungary to India than I do about the
Americas.
However, I did spend 18 months working in NYC in the mid '70s, with an
apartment at 3rd and 64th in Manhattan, but working out at Long Beach,
Long Island. I commuted on the LIRR, and that was definitely the best way
to organise living and working in NYC. By and large I enjoyed that,
especially after I joined the New York Skyscrapers model flying club and
had fun flying competitions around NY state and down into Maryland.
