Default Uvalde Day 2

Well, we're back to something like normal Uvalde weather. Our task
was a yo-yo down south with three 20 mile turn areas. There was also a
17mph wind, which broke up the thermals quite a bit. If you could stay
connected and work the lines of lift, it could be great, with long
glides bouncing from 7 knot thermal to 7 knot thermal. If you did not
stay connected, you found big rivers of sink and very choppy lift down
low, which also tended to break up just as you get back near the magic
layer. The winners did in the low 80s, but you can see the speeds
tail off rapidly from there, reflecting many tales of woe. Me too.
After two spectacular legs, I decided it was time to stop bumping up
on the clouds and practice low saves over the foothills north of
Uvalde.

Today looks like more of the same -- good, if not epic Uvalde. Strong
lift but just enough problems (cirrus, blue spots) to make it
interesting.
