Default Panther C.A.T. headset.

I recently received my new CAT headset, from Panther Electronics, and
have had some troubles. I would appreciate input from other Panther
owners, or your experiences with this system.

When I tried the headset with my ICON portable, using the headset
adapter cable, I got *instant* feedback squeal as soon as I tried to
transmit. At first, I thought maybe my portable's battery was low so
I recharged it and found the same problem.

When I tried my new headset in a Diamond Star, which I rent
frequently, the headset seemed to work fine for my hour flight home.
The next morning, however, I ****ed off the tower with the same
feedback squeal I experienced with my portable. After no success in
resolving this squeal, during transmit, I reverted to my traditional
headset. Since this time, I've had several other instances of the
transmit squeal with the CAT in two different aircraft. And, when I
wasn't squealing, I have had two different towers tell me I was
difficult to read.

Since the microphone is in the right ear, and the speaker is in my
left ear (and I presume I have brain matter between them...), I am at
a loss regarding the possible cause of the feedback. I have ensured
that the cabin speaker is not on, by the way. In short, I'm not
thrilled with my CAT headset and they are not very responsive to
questions, so I'm hoping someone here can offer some guidance.
