Default New IGC Flight Recorder - Fenix FR from RC Electronics

An IGC-approval document for the Fenix FR by RC Electronics was published on 20 April:

This is the first FR from RC Electronics, based north of Celje, Slovenia

There are now 61 main types of IGC-approved Flight Recorders, and the number increases to 77 when different models within main types are added.

The main table of all IGC-approvals, individual IGC-approval documents, and DLL files for checking the integrity of IGC files for flights to be validated to IGC standards, can be downloaded from either the GFAC or FAI/IGC web sites, see below, together with other information on IGC-approved Flight Recorders.

More detail is in the notes that follow.

Notes: 1. For the GFAC web site, see: www.ukiws.uk/GFAC
the complete table can be viewed directly at:
www.ukiws.uk/GFAC/igc_approved_frs.pdf
The table lists the name and main characteristics of individual IGC-approvals and in the last column there is a link to individual documents; click the link to call up the document. The table is followed by a list of individual IGC-approval documents in alphabetical order of manufacturer’s name from Aircotec to Zander. These can be called up by clicking the document name.

2. For the FAI/IGC web site go to: www.fai.org/igc-documents
Scroll down and click "Flight Recorders",
look down and click on: "IGC-approved Flight Recorders - Approval Documents"
then click on "IGC-approval Documents for all IGC-approved Flight Recorders"
This will call up a list of documents, the first one being:
"igcapproval_table_history_-_date.pdf"
followed by FR manufacturers in alphabetical order from Aircotec to Zander

If you own or fly with one of these FRs, it is recommended that you download its latest IGC-approval document from one of the web sites given above, and note any changes that may affect how you operate it.

The document with the table of IGC-approvals contains a number of other items, as listed below:

(1) A table of all types of IGC-approved Flight Recorders in alphabetical order of manufacturer name, with links to their IGC-approval documents in the right hand column under "Date of Latest Document".

(2) A table of Manufacturers of IGC-approved Flight Recorders, in alphabetical order of name.

(3) A diary of all IGC-approval activity from the first IGC-approvals in 1996 to the present day, recent events first.

(4) A history of GNSS Flight Recording in IGC together with pictures of some early Recorders.
