Most Cirrus pilots fly with the pin removed. In previous crashes
involving fires the cabin area was too badly damaged to determine
whether the handle was pulled. There was one incident (Lexington, Ky)
when the chute failed to deploy in the air but did deploy after the
plane made an off airport landing (fortunately the gas tank was not
ruptured).
