More likely it is going bananas because there's an exe in the ZIP

More likely you need a new virus checker. If your virus checker gives
you an alert every time it sees an exe file, this must make it very
difficult to use your computer. Modern virus checkers actually
analyze the exe file inside.

Some AV proggies are skittish.

And rightfully so... I'm even skittisher.
