cpu max'd out
I'm running FS2004 and from the moment I start it up my cpu is running at
100% according to Task manager. My system is an Athlon 1.34 GHz cpu with 896meg RAM and a NVIDEA GeForce4MX440 with AGP8X.0 video card. I am running my monitor at 1280 X 1024 with 32 bit color selected. The result is scenery loss in the form of large blocks of scenery either missing or flashing on and off repeatedly. This for some reason only affects the scenery and not the panel. All FSIM settings are at default. Any help appreciated. |

Yep, most games use 100% of the CPU and are the most demanding application
that can be run on a PC. You are running FS2004 at a high resolution for your video card. The MX series of Geforce cards are not really capable of heavy lifting at high screen resolutions. Try dropping your resolution to 800x600 and things should improve. If you have the cash, invest in a new Direct X 9 capable video card from ATI or Nvidia, one with 128 megs of ram. I run either CB FS, or 2004 AND the Seti at home project at the same time. It's not unusual to have other apps up at the same time although they end up in the background with reduced cycles. I haven't had any problems with the display freezing even with all the extra stuff, but the CPUs here run 100% just about 100% of the time, 24 X 7 as if nothing else is in the way the seti program will push it up to 98 to 100% along with the system apps. It's supposed to be at 100%, this is normal for FS9.
