He probably could have saved it if he had another 200 feet. I guess an RC B-52 has to be flown "by the numbers" (1). It's not a seat-of-the-pants pattern aircraft. Ironic. (1) whatever the heck *those* might be. Imagine - needing a formal test program for an RC jet.
