Hi Dave,
My name is Doug Dildy and I am new to the forum. I came here because of my professional (retired USAF F-15 pilot) and avocational interests (author of military and aviation history books and articles). I am currently composing an article on the USAS formation in WWI and noticed that you had contributed an image of '148th American' Camels on the 'Gordon's Picks' thread back in 2006. I have been unable to locate anything but an official USAF Museum/Historical Research Agency version of this image and it is fairly low resolution. I was wondering if you have a high rez version I can 'borrow' for my article -- to be published in the next issue of Aviation Classics magazine. I will of course give you full credit in the source citation for providing the photo. I hope you're having a great weekend and I hope to be corresponding with you more in the future. Cheers, Doug Dildy |

news ![]() 'Dave Kearton[_3_ Wrote: ;727065'] Hi Dave, My name is Doug Dildy and I am new to the forum. I came here because of my professional (retired USAF F-15 pilot) and avocational interests (author of military and aviation history books and articles). G'day Doug, Must say from the outset, that it's people like yourself who make me wish I was a lot brighter and tried harder in school. I am currently composing an article on the USAS formation in WWI and noticed that you had contributed an image of '148th American' Camels on the 'Gordon's Picks' thread back in 2006. Whoaa, that was a while ago. Back then, I was posting pics to usenet for a good friend of mine, Gordon Permann. Gordon is an ex-sailor, an ASW crewman on Seasprite heloes, a sea rescue swimmer who has two live rescues to his credit. Operating from small frigates and the Eisenhower at he far ends of the planet, where the water is cold and survival times are depressingly short. In brighter times, he served with distinction as a P-3 crewman and part of the intelligence gathering effort on Diego Garcia. Today Gordon has AOL. AOL is a binary deficiency that progressively renders the user cut off from the usenet world. What started out as the occasional missing binary post, slowly worsened to not being able to post at all - binary or text. Finally his condition worsened to not even being able to see any binary messages. There is no cure for users with AOL. Help desks have no solution, there is no hope on the horizon, no light at the end of the tunnel and sadly, no tunnel. This week is AOL week here on usenet. Please give generously; your donation could be the one that helps people like Gordon to post normally again. This and all of the 'Gordon's Pics' or 'Gordon's Pix' and many other series are scans from Gordon Permann's private collection. He picks up old photo albums at garage sales, deceased estates and various other sources You can contact him here or here ..... ....but not here alt.binaries.pictures.aviation. I hope you're having a great weekend and I hope to be corresponding with you more in the future. Cheers, Doug Dildy Thanks Doug, It's ANZAC Day here in Australia. It's the one day every year where we honour our servicemen and remember their sacrifices in war and peace. I've just returned from the dawn service, but couldn't stay for the march. I'm recording it on TV, looking out for my regiment, and may post fragments of it later. Otherwise, it's shaping up to be a fine autumn weekend, I'm looking forward to getting out in the garden tomorrow. -- Cheers Dave Kearton |
