Hi, All,
I've got an issue with my older (1990) Cobra trailer. It has the older style rectangular latches that you have to press in to lock, and then use the key to open. Where do you get the key blanks for the locks? I've only got one key and my local locksmiths couldn't find any matching blanks to make copies. -- Matt |

It is a problem since they are using metric, European keys. I finally find a "really pro" locksmith, with lots of key stuff, non matching. He finally find a similar but not indentical one, made the key said he could not promise it would work, but it did! 6PK |

I recently had the lock on an older (but with the wider body style)
Cobra trailer re-keyed to fit the new numbered Emka keys. Took one of the readily available keys to the locksmith and... Voila! It cost $20 US. Jim |

My 40 year old trailer that was imported into the states in 1969, has
locks that use a Volkswagen blank. The locksmith described my lock and keys at the local locksmith convention and said everyone there thought he was crazy. In the end, since my one key was actually locked inside the trailer, I had to get in with a drill (I drilled out the rivets on the door hinge). I've got one pointer to a local lock shop that might have blanks that will work. If that fails I might just have the locks rekeyed to fit one of the standard EMKAs. -- Matt |
