The DLR-Lange H3 project is officially announced, details he
http://www.lange-aviation.com/htm/en...news/news.html

The 23-meter wing molds will also be used for
the new 23-meter Antares and Schemmp-Hirth open
class machines.

The H3 max takeoff weight: 1.25 metric tons (2756 lb),
provides interesting wing-loading. Axel Lange reports
that H2 thermals well at 825 kg (1819 lb, a mere
13.1 lb/ft2 wing-loading).

Further detail to follow on Lange and SH web sites,
first orders have been accepted for both machines ;-)

These molds were not made by Streifeneder.
Very fancy molds - super accurate, temperature
stable, with heating systems for high-temp
curing in the molds (mold halves join for closure
and first high-temp cure).

There's no sun in ZWB, at least not in winter !
No sawzalls either, just gnomes with NC machines...

One might mention that these wings are going to be used on the
next-generation Nimbus, too.

Right, you did... - mea culpa.

The Antares has a really good wing - I guess it's proving right now
that electricity is the power source of the future. With 23 meters
it's probably going to be the ASW-22 and Nimbus-4 killer.

BTW:
Lots of really exciting new gliders approaching - anyone else who's as
curious as me about the new ASx-32 and ASx-33?

Cheers
Andreas

A disputable logic. :-)

Think he meant to say that "electricity provides the funding
source..." :-)

At least the soaring community gets new wing molds.
