It looks like it, to me, anyway. -- Jim in NC It was a hot day and I expect the pilot wanted some cooling effect. You can see the heat shimmer in the photos of planes taking off or landing. Fortunately there was a brisk breeze and a very thin overcast in the afternoon which helped mitigate the heat and made for comfortable spectating.
