Most common name I can find is Rotax from Bombardier, but I've heard for many alternatives like Hirth, BMW, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson... Harely Davidson too heavy. Kawasaki to small or too hard to find up-mounted reduction drive. BMW unproven in trikes. Some Hirth, plenty of Rotax. HKS works well if the trike is not to heavy. I took my training on an HKS powered trike. Jabauru was tried on trikes by Medway in England but they discontinued it due to alleged cooling problems. It is heavy also. Having said that there are a couple of the Medway Jabaru trikes in the US which are said to be flying succesfully. --Dan |
