Help:
I have a PC running Windows 7 - 64 Bit. I have Cambridge GPS-Nav. Does anyone know how to convert a CAI file 2 an IGC file for OLC? The program from CAI2IGC4OLC.ZIP works OK with Windows CP and Windows Vista -32 bit. I can not get it to work with my new laptop having Windows 7 - 64 Bit. Thanks, Ira |

No experience in this regard apart from to find that these programs won'r
run on 64 bit versions of windows. This is because CAI2IGC4OLC and CAI4OLC both run 32 bit DOS programs in a shell, the latter won't run in 64 bit environment. I would suggest trying to run the DOS programsdirectly in a DOS emulator such as DOSBOX, but have not tried it myself. Jeff Farrow "GliderPilot" wrote in message ... Thanks, Ira Jeff suggested DOSBOX, that will work, http://www.dosbox.com You can use Naviter SeeYou to read the CAI file and save as IGC for the OLC. That has worked before for people I've had to help do this for in the past. SeeYou (and StrePla I believe) do the right magic to append the CAI file to the IGC file for OLC validation. You may be able to use Windows XP Compatibility mode in Windows 7 (if you have Windows 7 Professional and above) to run the conv-cam.exe and cai2igc.exe utilities by hand or to run CAI2IGC4OLC (which is mostly just a wrapper for conv-cam.exe and cai2igc.exe). I don't have a Windows 7 box with me now to test this. Even if you have Professional and above, you need to mess around installing all the junk (basically a hidden copy of Windows XP) you'll find its still a bit messy to get this to work and DOSBOX is likely a much easier way to do this unless you had other reasons for wanting to install Windows XP Compatibility mode. I went through this already with my new 64 W7 (but not professional)
laptop. PM me directly and I'll send you what scripts I have. Still have to use dosbox but it works. My scripts list, sort and invoke dosbox to complete the process. you'll have to modify the script to invoke the cambridge utility as mine is set up for lxn files. Britton |

Darryl- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Thanks... It looks like using SeeYou and then doing a Save As works fine. The key is that the igc file needs to have the same name as the cai file.
