AIG was a couple hundred dollars per year higher and Avemco was several hundred per year higher for the same amounts of coverage. |

Aircraft is 1974 no damage/claim history. I would guess under $1000 (~$50K hull ?) for the basic $1M/$100K. My '76 Cardinal (insured for $60K) was $1,100 this year with AOPA, 700hrs CPASEL/IA. Martin |

I went through a broker who checks the rates between companies. He
got a better rate for me than I was quoted from the same insurance group. Go figure. Chris |

For a good quote on Insurance, contact
a club with your type plane and ask them if they have a group rate. IE: Cessna 152 club, Grumman Club or Cessna Pilots club or Mooney club. Try them out. I have a Grumman and built a Biplane so it is on my Policy also. Who said clubs don't get better rates. Just a thought. Bill OParowski |

I was just at a meeting of our club (2 172s, a 182, and a 182RG) where insurance was discussed. There were also some alumni in the meeting that own their own aircraft. I thought it pretty clear that the club is paying far more for insuring an aircraft than a single owner. - Andrew |

By "Type Club" he meant an organization of people who own the same sort of aircraft. Like I am a member of the American Navion Society ... |
