The LX9000 flight recorder with an external MOP (Means-of-Propulsion)
sensor box has gained IGC-approval from 10 January 2012. The LXNAV MOP box is designed for use with jet engines in motor gliders, and enables the main recorder to be in the cockpit and the sensor box to be placed close to the jet-pipe. The IGC-approval document will be available on the FAI/IGC web page: http://www.fai.org/gnss-recording-de...ight-recorders This may not be for some time because the FAI/IGC web pages are being re-organised. Meanwhile this approval and other FR-related documents and files are available on the GFAC Chairman's web site: www.ukiws.demon.co.uk/GFAC IGC-approval follows test and evaluation by the IGC GNSS Flight Recorder Approval Committee (GFAC) in accordance with Annex B to the Sporting Code for gliding and the Technical Specification for IGC- approved GNSS Flight Recorders. There are now 50 types of IGC-approved Flight Recorders from 19 different manufacturers. A PDF file with a table of all existing IGC-approval documents is on the igc-approved-flight-recorders web site above. Due to the re- organisation of the FAI web pages, this document is out-of-date but it is hoped that the latest version will be available shortly. However, this document in the GFAC Chairman's web site referenced above, is up-to-date. The document contains: (1) a table of all types of IGC-approved Flight Recorders, in alphabetical order of manufacturer name (2) a table of Flight Recorder Manufacturers, in alphabetical order of manufacturer name (3) a list of all IGC-approval activity from 1996 to the present day (4) a history of IGC GNSS Flight Recording All the best for good soaring in 2012 !
