Any good rentals at Henderson? Richard You might want to try Air Excel at Boulder City (800-281-4538). They have a number of clean, recent model 172's. Don't forget to pick up a grand canyon 'sectional' (current is 2001 I think), if you are heading over the canyon. Have fun. -- Dr. Tony Cox Citrus Controls Inc. e-mail: http://CitrusControls.com/ |

Yes DSA out at henderson is pretty good, they have an archer, couple of
warriors, couple of cennsa-172's, several tomahawks and a twin. their number is 702-263-9520 their airplanes go pretty quick so you may want to call in advance to reserve one if you decide to go with them. I dont work for them, I just did my private, instrument and am working on my commericial there right now. jeff http://www.turboarrow3.com Richard Ross wrote: Will be in Las Vegas the week of Dec 14th and wish to rent a single engine plane for a day trip over to KGCN. Richard,
oh, one more recommendation: If you are not that much into tourists and don't absolutely need to stand at the rim with a ton of them, just overfly GCN and go on to Marble Canyon. Great little strip with a good restaurant right next to it. And if the weather should preclude going to GCN, do the Sunday Brunch at Furnace Creek/Death Valley. They pick up from the airport, which is at minus 200 feet or so. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

Richard,
oh, one more recommendation: All good stuff (Marble Canyon & Death Valley if weather is iffy). I'd just add (having been up today) that Winter is here and it's bloody cold. Do file a flight plan & go prepared. The last 70 miles will be on the plateau, which is 5000' and up. If you have to put down, you could end up walking 30 miles just to get to a road. If leaving from Boulder City, you can't reach FS on the published frequency too easily heading east, so open the flight plan on the ground. Peach Springs VOR has an RCO which you can provide a position report on - it's the only RCO between the Vegas Valley and GCN, almost exactly 1/2 way. -- Dr. Tony Cox Citrus Controls Inc. e-mail: http://CitrusControls.com/ |
