Jim Darke has maps available at Parowan. He makes the best maps I have
seen. I have his maps for Montegue, Logan and Mifflin. I have one
waiting for me when I arrive at Parowan tomorrow.

Sean,

Sorry, misread the post. See you need the background map to run with
XCsoar.

Internet Explorer never works. I have to use Firefox to get it to work properly. The tool usually spits out a map in less than 5 minutes once you "place your order".

Sean, if you still can't get the generator to work in Firefox let me know and I can email you my map. It covers most of western states so pretty large file but if you have modern PDA or tablet like the Streak it shouldn't be a problem.

This is a somewhat ancient topic, but I'm having trouble with the map
generator today. I put in a request to generate a map covering South
Carolina but it remains queued hours later. Does anyone know what's going
on with the generator? There isn't any chitchat about it on the mailing
list archive and the old xcsoar forum archive isn't available.

Hi Matt,

we know that the map generator is sometimes/often broken due to overload. There is one utility application (gdalwarp) that we use to generate the terrain map that is using very many resources of the server and it seems that from time to time it just freezes. In that case we have to restart the service and all is fine again, but we usually don't notice it unless someone is complaining. I'm sorry that the service isn't as reliable at the moment as we wish it was.

Have you checked out the pregenerated maps? Is there nothing for the area where you want to fly in?

No, nothing in the SE USA. Too bad, since there's 4 contests in the region
this year. I had generated a map for my own club's use, but it doesn't cover
the area we're flying in this weekend when visiting another operation.
