Default AOPA/SSA partnership?

So originally it seemed as if SSA and AOPA were giving each other's members dual citizenship, since I stated getting AOPA magazine a while back. I got a bill today for renewal...guess it was a temporary thing to drum up interest for each others' causes?

SSA has done some over more than a single year to include member exchanges and ad placements also.

As a glider only pilot and after receiving incredible amounts of AOPA junk mail, I asked SSA to not rent/sell/trade my personal information. The gal at SSA was very helpful. I also asked AOPA to stop the mail, and the junk mail stopped about a month after my two request.

IMHO, AOPA is a very effective and politically savvy organization that's an advocate for all pilots' freedom to fly, not just power pilots. I consider my membership and my contributions to the PAC a good investment.

I tend to agree...I like paying dues to AOPA a lot more than ALPA. As a CFII/MEI/CFIG...I thing the articles the AOPA guys come up with are a lot more informative than Flying as well...because I'm not in the market for a G650 or new citation...

Regarding Robin Fleming's arrest, I like James Fallow's quote "The
video and story come from the AOPA -- the Aircraft Owners and Pilots
Association, which as I've explained is "my" version of the NRA. That
is, it is an unyielding and at times unreasonable advocate for what it
sees as its members' interests. In this case, I really support its
vigilance."

And you get a discount with Costello which basically pays the AOPA dues and more if I recall the correct.

You are correct. AOPA members get a 5% discount. I just renewed under
those terms.
